New drone limits near ticketed events

Beginning July 1, 2026, you cannot fly a drone within 400 feet of or above a ticketed entertainment event. A ticketed event is a music, sports, or performing arts show behind gates or barriers that requires a ticket. Breaking this rule is a Class A misdemeanor. Flights are allowed with consent from someone who has legal control of the event, or with FAA authorization that follows federal rules. Venue or utility employees on duty, police, military, and emergency managers may fly. Property owners may fly over their own land if they follow federal rules, do not interfere with the event, and do not film security for unlawful purposes.
