Cap and fines on home robocalls

Beginning July 1, 2026, no one may make more than 10,000 autodialed, prerecorded solicitation calls to Tennessee homes in a month. Breaking this cap is an unfair or deceptive act under the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act. Courts must impose at least a $1,000 civil penalty per violation, in addition to other remedies under state law.

Robocallers must keep and share records

Beginning July 1, 2026, anyone using autodialed, prerecorded solicitation calls to Tennessee homes must keep a monthly call count. Beginning October 1, 2026, if they make 500 or more such calls in a month, they must send those records to the commission at least every six months. The commission or the Tennessee attorney general and reporter can also require them to provide the records on request. Not following these rules is subject to penalties under Tennessee law.
