More highway workers get prevailing wage protection
Workers on all Tennessee state highway construction projects must receive the prevailing wage rate. This also covers public highway construction outside state contracts when federal or state highway funds pay any project costs. A state contract means a written agreement with Tennessee for work on a state highway construction project. The law also allows the commissioner’s designee to take part in the related wage-development process. It took effect upon becoming law and applies to contracts entered into, amended, or renewed on or after that date.
