New guidance for state literacy tutors

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Tennessee Department of Education provides guidance to tutors in the Tennessee Accelerating Literacy and Learning Corps. The guidance explains how to match tutoring to each student's learning needs and to the State Board's grade-level standards. This helps make extra academic help more targeted for each student.

State lists secure student data systems

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Tennessee Department of Education gives each school district a list of secure student data systems. The systems must track, in real time, which interventions work, how resources are used, and student progress across all schools in a district. The listed systems must follow FERPA (20 U.S.C. § 12329), Tennessee Code § 10-7-504, the Data Accessibility, Transparency, and Accountability Act, and other privacy laws. Districts do not have to use a system on the list.
