New promotion program for Tennessee meat businesses

Effective upon becoming law, the act creates a voluntary program promoting Tennessee meat and livestock byproducts for human consumption. Qualifying livestock must be born, raised, and harvested in Tennessee. The Department of Agriculture may create Tennessee-origin labels, which must meet federal meat-labeling standards. The department must adopt program rules under the state's Uniform Administrative Procedures Act. It must use existing staff and resources; the law specifies no new funding or payments to participating businesses.
