Stricter eligibility rules for Millington elected officials
The law requires Millington's mayor and aldermen to be qualified voters under Tennessee law. They must have truly lived in Millington for at least one year immediately before the election in which they run. These requirements take effect only after approval by two-thirds of the city's legislative body. The law authorizes that approval process upon becoming law. The presiding officer must announce approval or rejection and certify the result to Tennessee's Secretary of State.
