Cheatham County adds seventh school board district
The law requires approval by two-thirds of Cheatham County’s legislative body before the school board changes take effect. Beginning with the August 2032 general election, the county moves from six to seven school board districts. The county legislative body sets district boundaries by resolution, with nearly equal populations in each district. Qualified voters in each district elect one board member. Current members stay until their terms end, and the new seat gets a four-year term in August 2032. Later elections fill seats for staggered four-year terms as members’ terms expire. The presiding officer must announce approval or rejection and certify it to the Secretary of State.
