Higher pay for Greenbrier elected officials
The law raises monthly pay for covered Greenbrier elected officials from $120 to $300. That is $180 more each month, or $2,160 over 12 months. The changes require approval by a two-thirds vote of Greenbrier’s legislative body before taking effect.
Greenbrier board must approve city payments
Greenbrier’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen must set procedures for paying out city funds, following state law. City payments require board approval; the law sets no household benefit amount or eligibility change. These changes take effect only with a two-thirds approval vote by Greenbrier’s legislative body. Its presiding officer must announce approval or rejection and certify the result to Tennessee’s secretary of state. The act takes effect upon becoming law for the approval process, but requires local approval for its other purposes.
