Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, Texas school districts must give parents or legal guardians information about local disability services. This applies to students with an intellectual disability or developmental delay. Districts must provide it at the first committee meeting where the student's individualized education program (IEP) is developed. The information covers services and public benefits from the local intellectual and developmental disability authority serving the student's county, including Section 1915(c) waiver services. The Texas Education Agency must work with the Health and Human Services Commission to develop materials and make them available to districts. The law took effect September 1, 2025.
