More privacy for Texas informal marriage records

Texas informal marriage forms must include a privacy checkbox for declarations signed on or after September 1, 2025. Either person can check it to protect both people's identifying details, but their names remain available. When checked, county clerks cannot publicly post those protected details. County clerks and the state vital statistics unit can release protected details only to either person or their legal representative. Earlier declarations remain under the law in effect when signed.
