Beginning September 1, 2025, these rules cover Texas Commission on Environmental Quality occupational licenses and registrations. For credentials expired up to 90 days, renewal fees cannot exceed 1.5 times the normal renewal fee. Applicants in this group can do work requiring the credential until renewal or denial. For credentials expired 90–180 days, renewal fees cannot exceed twice the normal renewal fee. The windows overlap at 90 days and conflict at 180 days, when the law also bars renewal. When renewal is barred, getting a new license or registration requires meeting the original requirements, including required exams.
