Property tax extensions when collector offices close

Beginning January 1, 2026, Texas property taxpayers get a deadline extension when their tax collector’s office is closed. The office must be closed on the last day for payment. You must pay on the next regular business day for your payment to count as on time. The existing next-business-day rule for deadlines on weekends or legal state or national holidays remains in place.
