Beginning September 1, 2025, Texas makes knowingly promoting or possessing a child-like sex doll a felony. The ban covers obscene, anatomically correct dolls, mannequins, or robots with child features intended for sexual stimulation or gratification. Promotion is a second-degree felony; possession with intent to promote is a third-degree felony. Possession without that intent is a state jail felony. Having two or more creates a presumption of intent to promote, which the person can challenge. Possession or promotion for a genuine law-enforcement purpose provides an affirmative defense to prosecution.
