Texas electric customers get line-clearing request instructions

Beginning September 1, 2025, Texas electric bills must periodically include instructions for requesting tree and brush management near power lines. This covers retail electric providers, utilities billing customers directly, city-owned utilities, and electric cooperatives. Delivery utilities must give retail providers the request procedure. Bill notices also explain emergency power shutoff procedures and how to reduce electricity use during those events. They describe critical-care residential and critical-load industrial or other customer categories, plus how to apply under state rules.
