Beginning September 1, 2025, more Texas county judges can delegate duties to a county commissioner. Newly eligible counties must have 350,000 to 370,000 people. They must border both the Gulf of Mexico and a county with at least 3.3 million people. The authority already applies in counties with more than 1.5 million people. This law does not directly change household taxes, benefits, or eligibility.
