No parole for specified trafficking offenses

Texas law bars parole for specified trafficking offenses involving children and people with disabilities. The ban covers Texas Penal Code Section 20A.02(a)(5), (6), (7), and (8). It also covers Section 20A.03 offenses based partly or wholly on conduct covered by those subsections. The new rule applies to offenses committed on or after September 1, 2025. If any element of the offense occurred before that date, the former law applies.
