More privacy for crime victim compensation records

Beginning September 1, 2025, Texas law protects crime victim compensation applications and related records handled by the attorney general. This includes reports released to the attorney general under Article 56B.054(f). These records are shielded from public records requests, subpoenas, discovery, and other forced release. Exceptions remain under Government Code Section 552.132(c) and Code of Criminal Procedure Article 56B.058(c). The law does not change compensation payments or who qualifies.
