Beginning September 1, 2025, Texas sets fingerprint rules for dealers applying for or holding dealer numbers for 75 or more locations. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles may require fingerprints for an original or renewed dealer number. For each location, it may require one complete set from no more than one manager or other genuine employee. That employee’s regular workplace must be within 100 miles of the dealer location. Those fingerprints satisfy the requirement for all that dealer’s locations within 100 miles of the employee’s regular workplace.
