Texas changes local defense grant scoring

Beginning September 1, 2025, the commission replaces panel reviews for Texas Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant applications. It assigns numerical scores based on the size of positive or negative local effects and any other criteria it sets. The commission must use those scores to decide whether to award grants. Grants require funding approved by the legislature; awards are not guaranteed. The law also removes a related definition from state law.
