Walker County hospital board and lease changes

Walker County Hospital District board members serve four-year terms instead of two-year terms. Two or three members' terms end each even-numbered year. The board can lease any or all district property, including hospital buildings and facilities, to any person. Lease terms must serve the district's best interest, with a maximum length of 80 years instead of 40. The law's effective-date rule provides immediate effect with approval from two-thirds of all elected members in each legislative house. Otherwise, the effective date is September 1, 2025. These changes do not directly change household payments, benefits, or eligibility.
