New bailiff rules preserve existing pay

Beginning September 1, 2025, the law removes the 341st District Court's requirement to appoint a bailiff. Judges of the 30th, 70th, 71st, 78th, 89th, and 161st District Courts must each appoint a bailiff. The requirement also covers Taylor County district courts and county courts at law, plus the County Court of Harrison County. Bailiffs appointed by the 341st or 406th District Court before September 1, 2025, keep serving under prior law. Webb County continues paying them as before, including eligibility for previously available longevity and cost-of-living raises. The law also repeals Government Code Sections 53.001(i) and 53.009(d); the supplied text does not explain those repealed rules.
