Beginning September 1, 2025, specified Austin projects are exempt from the Capitol view chapter, with some height limits. At the University of Texas at Austin, Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium construction, renovation, equipment, and related improvements are exempt. The stadium height limit rises from 666 to 670 feet above mean sea level; north-end work has no such limit. Work on 11th Street under the East 11th and 12th Streets Redevelopment Program is exempt, but improvements cannot exceed 600 feet above mean sea level. Robert Mueller Municipal Airport redevelopment under Austin’s adopted redevelopment and reuse plan is exempt, with no height cap specified.
Beginning September 1, 2025, the law changes where Texas Capitol view rules apply to construction and improvements. It adds two northbound Interstate Highway 35 corridors: Third Street to Waller Creek Plaza, and Waller Creek Plaza to the Municipal Police and Court Building. It also adds the East Seventh Street Bridge over the Texas-New Orleans Railroad and the Longhorn Shores corridors. It removes the southbound Interstate Highway 35 Upper Deck corridor between Concordia College and the Martin Luther King Boulevard Overpass.
