Beginning September 1, 2025, qualifying veteran-owned businesses keep their Texas franchise tax exemption. They also keep an exemption from certain business filing fees. The law removes scheduled changes that threatened these breaks on January 1, 2026. Existing Texas eligibility rules still apply; this law does not state the dollar savings.
Beginning September 1, 2025, Texas removes two Secretary of State rush-service fee caps: $15 for certified searches or security-interest filings, and $25 for business filings or reviews. The Secretary sets these fees, can vary them by business type, and must post them online. Fees for expedited data access or electronic data transfers must be reasonable and necessary to cover costs. The Secretary can maintain expedited electronic access to all nonconfidential information in state computer record banks. Expedited certified copies and certificates of fact for covered filings remain capped at $10 each.
