Texas school boards can change election schedules

Texas independent school districts holding board elections outside November can move them to the November uniform election date. The law sets no deadline for that election-date change. Boards also have until December 31, 2030, to adopt a resolution setting staggered three- or four-year trustee terms. The resolution must explain the transition, which starts with the first regular trustee election after adoption. For the move to November, the transition ends when that election's results are officially confirmed. Trustees already serving finish their current terms, and the term-change authority expires January 1, 2036.
