Retired Texas officers’ cards must show rank

Beginning September 1, 2025, Texas issuers must include officers’ position or rank at retirement on their identification cards. This applies to honorably retired peace officers and qualified retired law enforcement officers. Cards must also list a phone number available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to verify validity. The law does not create a benefit payment.
