New specialty plates for Army Rangers

Beginning September 1, 2025, Texas must offer two new Army Ranger specialty plates. Active or former Army Ranger unit members and Ranger School graduates qualify for the “U.S. Army Ranger” plate. It shows the Army-authorized Ranger tab. Active or former 75th Ranger Regiment members qualify for a separate plate. It shows the regiment’s shoulder sleeve insignia above its designated unit insignia, with “75th Army Ranger Regiment” at the bottom. The law also lets people request an emblem on plates issued under Transportation Code Section 504.202. They can choose their service branch emblem or one emblem from another plate they qualify for. The law does not state the new plates’ cost.
