Military child-care providers gain Texas licensing exemption

Beginning September 1, 2025, qualifying military child-care providers are exempt from Texas child-care licensing requirements. Facilities must be on a federal military base or other federal property. Military family child-care providers also qualify. Both types must maintain an operating certificate from the U.S. Department of Defense. The law creates no direct household payment and does not guarantee more child-care openings.
