Beginning September 1, 2025, Texas automatically revokes driver's licenses and state IDs for missed required renewal applications. This applies only to holders subject to sex-offender or terrorist registration under Texas criminal procedure Chapters 62 or 65. They must fail to apply for renewal as required by Article 62.060, 62.2021, or 65.058, as applicable. The law also repeals the related prior provisions in Transportation Code Sections 521.297(b) and 522.087(b).
