Texas may release notaries’ contact details

The Texas Secretary of State may release a notary’s home address, home phone number, or email address, but is not required to. This applies to notaries appointed under Subchapter A, Chapter 406. Otherwise, license applications and listed personal information held by covered government bodies remain confidential under the public information law. This protects applicants, current license holders, and former license holders. Protected details include home addresses, home phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, birth dates, driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers, passport numbers, emergency contacts, and payment information. The law takes effect immediately with two-thirds approval in each legislative chamber; otherwise, it takes effect September 1, 2025.
