Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Wood County hospital board adds director

The Wood County Central Hospital District board grows from six to seven directors, elected by voters across the district. This setup applies unless district boundaries expand under Subchapter G or H. After the law takes effect, the board must appoint a temporary director who serves until the regular 2026 director election. The law's effective-date rule specifies immediate effect with two-thirds approval in each legislative house; otherwise, September 1, 2025.

Wood County hospital gains banking options

The Wood County Central Hospital District board can select one or more banks inside or outside the district by resolution. The old two-year bank term no longer applies. All district money must go into its selected banks and be secured under the rules for county funds. The board can invest district money only in funds or securities allowed by Chapter 2256 of the Texas Government Code.

Wood County hospital audits less often

The Wood County Central Hospital District no longer needs an independent audit every year. Its board must require audits when it finds them necessary, but at least once every three years. The law also removes the requirement to file audit copies with the state comptroller and the district.
