Beginning September 1, 2025, Texas removes the $3 issuance fee for military plates under Sections 504.315(d) and (g). Generally, one set has no extra issuance fee unless the military plate law provides otherwise. Applicants still pay vehicle registration fees and any applicable special plate fee. One set is exempt from registration fees under Transportation Code Sections 504.308, 504.310(b), 504.315, and 504.319. The Section 504.315 exemption excludes plates under subsections (c) and (q).
