Texas health insurers and health maintenance organizations can waive premiums owed by group policyholders or contract holders. Relief covers only months after the month a person's eligibility for group coverage ends. The group holder must notify the insurer or organization after the eligibility-ending month. No covered services can have been provided after that month. Waivers are optional, and premiums for the eligibility-ending month remain owed. The act takes effect immediately with two-thirds approval in both houses; otherwise, its effective date is September 1, 2025.
