Texas bicentennial commission members get expenses repaid

Beginning September 1, 2025, Texas Bicentennial Commission members get repaid for actual, necessary expenses of commission work. Reimbursement follows limits in the General Appropriations Act, and members receive no pay for serving. Commission funds cover governor appointees; the appropriate legislative chamber pays for lieutenant governor or speaker appointees. Members serving through their agency or office get repaid from that entity’s funds. The reimbursement rule ends September 1, 2037.
