More privacy for Texas college leaders

Texas law expands public-record and tax-record privacy for governing board members, presidents, and other chief executives at public or private colleges. Protected details include home addresses, home phone numbers, emergency contacts, and Social Security numbers. Agencies also cannot disclose whether covered leaders have family members. University-system chief executives receive expanded protections, but are excluded from the Government Code Section 552.1175 expansion. The changes apply only to information requests received by government bodies or officers on or after September 1, 2025.
