Public safety students skip college readiness testing

Starting in fall 2025, eligible entering undergraduates at Texas public colleges are exempt from Texas Success Initiative assessment requirements. This covers emergency medical technicians certified under Texas law and employed by a local government or other political subdivision. It also covers fire protection personnel defined by Texas law and peace officers elected, appointed, or employed to serve. Assessments for terms before fall 2025 remain under the earlier rules.
