Beginning September 1, 2025, people owed Texas property tax refunds can choose where their refunds are mailed. Refunds otherwise go to the mailing address on the appraisal roll. Before the refund is issued, file a written request with the tax collector or taxing unit using the Texas Comptroller’s form. The collector or taxing unit must send the refund to the address you specify. You can cancel the request at any time by filing a written cancellation with the collector or taxing unit. The form must warn about penalties for making or filing false statements. Requests filed before September 1, 2025, remain under the prior law.
