Beginning September 1, 2025, the Texas Workforce Commission must give eligible child-care workers’ children priority on child-care services waiting lists. Workers must be employed by and work at least 25 hours weekly at a facility licensed under Texas law, Chapter 42. Owners and directors qualify only if their child’s program is not under their direct supervision. Workers receiving this priority must have their eligibility for services reviewed each year under commission rules. Priority does not guarantee a child-care opening.
