Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.

Hearings and court review for penalties

If you face penalties under this point system, you can get a hearing. The Director of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles runs the hearing. Any penalty from that hearing can be reviewed by the Superior Court.

Higher fees and mandatory driver course

The three-hour driver education course is now mandatory when the rule applies to you. The main fee rises from $25 to $200. Another related fee rises from $75 to $100.

Reduce license points: clean year or course

Points stay on your record. If you go 12 consecutive months with no moving violation convictions, 3 points are deducted. You can also pay $200 and take a course to remove 3 points once every 12 months. You must finish the course, and the points cannot be from an accident.
