The law gives $1.745 million to the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority for a Cistern and Slab Program. First-time homebuyers can get up to $50,000 to build a cistern and/or a slab. Awards cannot exceed $50,000 per buyer. This one-time fund can cover up to 34 full $50,000 grants.
More funding for VI Slice and Williams Delight
The law gives $1.745 million to the Economic Development Authority for the VI Slice Homeownership Program. It also gives $510,000 to the Virgin Islands Housing Authority for the Williams Delight Community Homeownership Program. These are one-time funds to help eligible homebuyers through those programs.
Old First-Time Homebuyers Program ended
The law removes the authorization to establish the First-Time Homebuyers Program in 21 V.I.C. § 8. The money tied to that purpose now goes to three programs: VI Slice, Williams Delight, and the Cistern and Slab Program. Households now use these named programs instead of the old one.
