Special plates for Medal of Valor families

Beginning 90 days after passage, West Virginia Medal of Valor recipients and surviving spouses can get special plates. Applicants must prove they qualify and have a Class A passenger vehicle titled in their name. The plates are exempt from the usual registration fees. A second plate costs $10 once, with the money going to the State Road Fund. Surviving spouses can keep using the recipient’s plate until they die, remarry, or fail to renew it.
