New fund to fight online child abuse

Beginning July 1, 2026, the state creates a special account to fund the Internet Crimes Against Children task force. The government deposits $1.6 million for July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2028. Money can also come from grants, gifts, donations, and interest, and stays in the account. The Division of Criminal Investigation can use it only to run and support law enforcement that fights internet crimes against children. The funds do not lapse or revert, and lawmakers plan to carry this in the division’s next standard budget.
