1.1466 STATE FOSSIL. § Subdivision 1.Designation. Castoroides ohioensis, commonly known as the giant beaver, or capa in Dakota and amik in Ojibwe, is designated as the official state fossil of the state of Minnesota. § Subd. 2.Photograph. A photograph of the giant beaver, approved by the commissioner of natural resources, shall be preserved and may be displayed in the Office of the Secretary of State. History: 2025 c 39 art 2 s 1
