169.442 SCHOOL BUS SIGNALS. § Subdivision 1.Signals required. A type A, B, C, or D school bus must be equipped with at least one stop-signal arm, prewarning flashing amber signals, and flashing red signals. § Subd. 2. In addition to equipment required under subdivision 1, and notwithstanding section 169.64, a school bus may be equipped with a driver-activated, exterior student-control, warning system. The driver shall activate this system when the use of the stop-signal arm and flashing red signals is required under section 169.443, subdivision 1. § Subd. 5.White strobe lamps on certain buses transporting children. A school bus or a Head Start bus may be equipped with a flashing strobe lamp under section 169.64, subdivision 8. § Subd. 6.Supplemental warning system. In addition to the signals required under subdivision 1, a type A, B, C, or D school bus may be equipped with a supplemental warning system under section 169.4503, subdivision 31.
