Section 1. The Senate shall be composed of three conferences; the\nRepublican Conference, the Democratic Conference and the Independent\nDemocratic Conference. Designation of the leaders and members of each\nconference shall be filed in the Senate Journal upon the approval of the\nMajority Coalition Leaders. The leaders of such conferences, referred to\nin these rules as Conference Leaders, shall not serve in their\nrespective capacities for longer than eight years. The Republican\nConference and the Independent Democratic Conference shall together\ncomprise the Majority Coalition. The Republican Conference Leader and\nthe Independent Democratic Conference Leader shall together be the\nMajority Coalition Leaders.\n
