Assistance of state's attorney or domestic violence sexual assault advocate

1. Notwithstanding subsection 5 of section 11-16-05, a victim witness coordinator or a state's attorney staff member may assist an individual in preparation of documents necessary to secure a civil protection order under this section. 2. Notwithstanding section 27-11-01, a certified domestic violence sexual assault advocate, as defined under the North Dakota Supreme Court Administrative Rules, may assist an individual in preparation of documents necessary to secure a civil protection order under this chapter and may sit with the petitioner during court proceedings.
