N.D.C.C. § 25-01.1-36

Any member of the supervising department and any officer thereof who exerts any improper influence, by solicitation or otherwise, on the superintendent of any institution under the control of the supervising department, in the selection of any employee or assistant, is guilty of a class A misdemeanor.

25-01.1-37. Political influence or contribution by members of supervising department or employees of institution prohibited. Any member or officer of the supervising department, or any officer or employee of an institution subject to control of the supervising department, who, by solicitation or otherwise, exerts the person's influence, directly or indirectly, to induce other officers or employees of the state to adopt the person's political views must be removed from the person's office or position by the proper authorities.
