Amateur radio operator plates; fee. (1) A motor vehicle owner who is a resident of this state and who holds a valid, unrevoked and unexpired official amateur radio station license issued by the Federal Communications Commission may obtain from the Department of Transportation special registration plates designed by the department for use on the vehicle in lieu of the regularly issued registration plates for the vehicle. To obtain special registration plates described under this section, a person must submit to the department the fee established under ORS 805.250 for issuance of the special registration plates

(2) Upon the revocation or expiration of the radio license, the person must return the plates issued under this section to the department and receive in lieu thereof regular registration plates. [1983 c.338 §265; 1985 c.16 §106; 1993 c.741 §132]
