School bus stop arms. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, school buses may be equipped with an octagonal shaped mechanical stop arm that indicates when the bus is stopped to load or unload passengers on a roadway. The stop arms authorized by this section shall be equipped with two alternately flashing red bus safety lights showing both to the front and rear of the bus. [1987 c.654 §5]
