14 V.I.C. § 1179

(1) Whoever—(1) threatens another with the publication of a libel concerning him, or any parent, husband, wife, child or other member of his family; or(2) offers to prevent the publication of a libel upon another person upon condition of the payment of, or with intent to extort, money or other valuable consideration from any person—shall be fined not more than $1,000 or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.

shall be fined not more than $1,000 or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.
