Destroying or defacing tombstones or cemetery grounds

14 V.I.C. § 1265 — under Malicious Mischief.

14 V.I.C. § 1265

(1) Whoever—(1) willfully and maliciously defaces, breaks, destroys or removes any—(A) tomb, monument or gravestone erected to any deceased person;(B) memento or memorial; or(C) ornamental plant, tree or shrub appertaining to the place of burial of a human being; or(2) marks, defaces, injures, destroys or removes any fence, post, rail or wall of any cemetery or graveyard—shall be fined not more than $1000 or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.

(2) marks, defaces, injures, destroys or removes any fence, post, rail or wall of any cemetery or graveyard—

shall be fined not more than $1000 or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.
